On Friday, June 20, 2025, I went out to Art Park State Park to study the Lower Niagara River Gorge. I started close to the river at Art Park and then slowly made my way up the gorge. The Queenston Shale was seen across the river on the Canadian side of the lower gorge, but not the USA side. I wonder why? The base rock on the USA side seemed to be the Whirlpool Sandstone and not the Queenston Shale.

In doing much of the research on both sides of the Niagara River Gorge, Canada seemed to have better resources called GeoPark.
Just try telling a Geologist they can't take rocks!
